Well, it was kinda his idea to begin with. Not that he said I needed to lose weight. When we first met, he offered to be my Daddy for a specific reason: to give me some discipline and structure to complete an academic goal. When that ended, we wanted to keep working together, and he mentioned that he’d always wanted to have a sub on a weight loss plan.
I had dieted on my own on and off for about 8 years, trying to lose the lbs that I’d put on because of hormonal bc, and poor exercise and eating habits. I’d been successful with Weight Watchers on my own at one point in my mid-twenties, but never again got under 150 (and at 5’3”, I had started adulthood at 125). So I figured I’d give this “dieting for Daddy” thing a try because it would give us a goal to work on together. And the idea of him objectifying and owning my body like that was sexy to both of us.
In the beginning, he had me weighing myself twice a day, and taking measurements and sending him pictures once a week. I also blogged about my progress and my diet/exercise regime. He let me choose what I would do, but helped me set short term goals (like, lose 5 lbs this month), with the understanding that if I couldn’t meet the goals with my own choices, he’d impose his choices on me.
I was very successful on my own. I lost about 15-20 lbs between April and November of 2010, bringing myself down to 170. I mostly tracked calories with LoseIt (an iPhone app) and exercised at the gym and took yoga classes. When my weight loss stalled around 170, I decided to try the new Weight Watchers that launched last January because I liked how they had revamped the plan to encourage more fruits and veggies, and less processed foods. It seemed to be a genuine healthy eating plan, not a diet. That was important to me because I won’t do silly diets for very long (things like no carbs, cabbage soup, cleanses, etc.). I always burn out on that restrictive kind of lifestyle.
Between last January and now, I lost another 35-ish lbs. I’m currently 134.8, aiming for 130, and eventually I hope to make it back to 125. Since the beginning, my Daddy has mainly been a support system - encouraging me to keep going when I might have given up. But he’s never had to impose any diet or exercise rules for me — I’ve done that on my own.
The craziest thing for me is how different my body looks and feels now. I was a size 14 when I started. I’m currently wearing a 4, and sometimes a 2. I was a 42DD, and I’m now a 32C. I had 49 inch hips and a 38 inch waist; I’m now measuring 38 inches around my hips (yes, my ass is now the size my waist used to be) and 26 inches in the waist. My face is different. My whole life is different.
Truly, I don’t think I would have done it if my Daddy hadn’t pushed me in the beginning. He motivated me in a way I couldn’t seem to do on my own. But, I was, and still am, the driving force behind my own transformation. I choose what I eat, when, and how and when I exercise.
Wow, that was a long answer. Sorry. It’s been a while since I wrote about any of this stuff so you just kinda opened Pandora’s box…
